Not sure if... [17 Jan 2009|03:07pm]

musettaswaltz42
[ mood | creative ]

I'm not even really sure if this community is still active...but I figured here would be the place to put this.

I saw the show about three days ago (With Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp reprising their original roles...and it was very drool-worth) and I've been in a Rent kick since...so I wrote this. It started as a drabble...then exploded a little.

Title: A Year in the Life
Author: Musettaswaltz42
Characters and Pairings: Mark/Roger if you squint and blur your eyes together, Collins
Rating: Uh...PG...Maybe PG for a bit of drug-use.
Disclaimer: Don't Own. I'm broke...just borrowing for my own amusement.
Summary: Roger is seventeen and just moved out of his parents' house. Sixteen-year-old Mark comes along and their friendship begins to grow. It's the start of their bohemian family, and Roger's finally found a place to call home.
Status: Completed!
Comments: Yes, Please!

(Yes...I am horrid at summary things. My apologies.)

Dedicated and penned for[info]macavity_hime

Yay! New Chapter! 6/7 [09 Jul 2008|11:55pm]

Title: A Little Business
Pairing: Mark/Roger
Rating: R
Summary: Maybe if Mark had followed his parents wishes and studied business, things would have been so much easier. Well, maybe.
Notes: Originally attempt for Speed_rent (Challenge: a character has the chance to go back in time and change one thing. How present change as a result?)…little poetic lisence, nothing dramatic, just info you can’t 100% get from the play. I'm so sorry about the wait.
Disclaimer: Don’t own, not my characters.

Parts One, Two, Three, Four and Five

Ten minutes of your time for my thesis? [19 Jun 2008|12:48pm]

noctuabunda
Dear fanfic authors,

first of all I’m sorry if OT posting isn’t allowed in this community, but there’s no other way for me to do this; just delete this if it isn’t appropriate.

I’m a fanfic reader and occasional fanfic writer myself, so what did I pick for my thesis in communication sciences? Fan Fiction, of course. I designed a survey to find out more about our writing habits and media use; it takes about 10 minutes to complete.

If you could go here and fill it out, I’d be forever grateful. Of course I’ll publish some of the results at my journal in about a month or two, so you’ll know what happened with your answers.
The survey is completely anonymous; I have no way of finding out who gave which answers.

Please, please help a fellow fan out. It’s only ten minutes for you; it’s a very important part of my work for me.

This has been cross-posted like crazy, and I'm sorry for spamming you guys, I'm just a little desperate, too.

RENT - Mark/Roger "Glass Door" [23 May 2008|01:22am]
tuesdayshowers
"Glass Door"
RENT - Mark/Roger
PG-13 for themes, I assume.
Summary: A short portrait of a quiet relationship. "And the first time Roger Davis kissed Mark Cohen, he tasted of vodka and cigarettes."

Rooftop Hug [04 Apr 2008|10:22pm]

[ mood | thoughtful ]

I've been lurking for a while now and decided that I might as well post even if what I posted wasn't as great as everything else that's up here.

Title: Rooftop Hug
Artist: Margot (flyery)
Rating: G as far as I'm concerned
Summary: The hug that Mark and Roger share after Roger comes back from Santa Fe during 'What You Own.'
Notes: This is from a screenshot and the background I originally drew was crap so instead you get the plain brown background.
Disclaimer: I do not own these characters or the screenshot this drawing was based on.

RENT fic: 'Alive' (Roger/Mark) [20 Dec 2007|12:42am]

Alive
Roger Davis/Mark Cohen
(Roger/Mimi)
PG-13/R

First time in the fandom. :X Unbeta'd, written while studying should have been done for finals. Constructive criticism, s'il vous plait.

( The feline of Avenue B lives her last moment between the white sheets of a hospital bed, her rag-tag Bohemian family gathered around her. )

Title: The Stories We Say
Chapter: 14/14 (Previous Chapters)
Characters/Pairing: Mark/Roger, Roger/April, Benny
Word Count: 1300
Rating: PG-13
Summary: The art of losing isn't hard to master, and some things were lost from the start.
Notes: Written for rentchallenge speed challenge #50.
Disclaimer: I don't own Rent, Mark, Roger, April, Collins, Benny... any of them. If for some reason you thought that would have changed by now... well, it didn't. I also do not own "One Art", by Elizabeth Bishop.

( So we just hold on fast, acknowledge the past as lessons exquisitely crafted... )

Title: Ways Life Never Happened to Mark and Roger, part 9
Author: DF
Fandom: Rent
Pairing: Mark/Roger, implied OMC/OMC
Summary: The Well Hungarians do not have a drummer. This is problematic.
Notes 1: If you don't remember/have never read this series, it's a bunch of unconnected AUs which can all be found in the Rent section of my memories. Past chapters include... a pretty crazy list which I'm not going to get into right now.
Notes 2: This was meant to be a lot more comprehensible. Unfortunately, the two other members of the Well Hungarians insisted on telling the story from their point of view, and their thoughts are kind of disjointed. Also, they curse a lot. I hope you don't mind.

Unless. Unless. Is there a word for looking at someone like you want to kiss him?

I came here because I'm writing a straight play (sorry, no music!). It's original, but very much inspired by Rent and I wanted to find a beta reader to help me edit. You can find out more about the play here. I came because I thought people here would be familiar with the sort of scenario I have.

I would exchange email addresses with the beta reader and once I finished writing and editing 1-2 scenes I would email them to the beta. The beta would then email me back with criticism, suggestions and feedback. I would edit in the suggestions (if I agreed) and then post them publicly.

It would be really helpful if anyone would volunteer.

TV [24 Sep 2007|06:06pm]

Title: TV
Summary:
A sad, sort of ironic story about Roger.
Characters/pairings:
None really. Minimal Mark/Roger friendship.
Disclaimer: If you don't know who owns Rent, don't read the story.
Rating: G
Notes: I wrote it in my little pink vinyl notebook- so cute. It was 12 pages in the notebook but it'll probably be 2 pages here.

FIC: Won't Have the Nerve to Say No [15 Sep 2007|04:59pm]

allfireburns
Title: Won't Have the Nerve to Say No
Characters/Pairing: Mark/Roger/Mimi
Word Count: 5592
Rating: NC17
Summary: So take me in from the storm... You won't have the nerve to say no. Total PWP.
Notes: Started for speed_rent challenge #250 (using the prompt for challenge #32) and seriouslyrent's Saturday prompt ("Valentine's Day"). Being neurotic or just... special like I am, I decided to try to include as many other of the first speed_rent prompts as I could. I got 21, 28, 44, and 47. I meant to finish it as a Christmas present for lionessvalenti, but... I didn't manage that. And then it was supposed to be a Valentine's Day present. And then a "yay, you moved to New York!" present. And then a "sorry you had to leave New York" present. ...Now it's just an "I'm sorry I fail so hard!" present. Enjoy your smut, you.
Disclaimer: I don't own Rent. Or Mark, or Roger, or Mimi. Thank you.

( "Valentines Day. Pan across the empty lot." )
